Oscar Niemeyer, brazilian architecture’s father, a legend in modern architecture, and probably the one and only architect who could show of about having designed a city from the very beggining. His large work can be defined as futurist and it is plenty of concrete and wavy lines inspired, in his own words, in the femenine body and in the delicate waves that form the rivers and clouds in the brazilian landscape.

We invite you to watch and comment this video documentary from another brazilian Fabiano Maciel where we can review Oscar Niemeyer’s life and work trajectory from his early steps to his collaboration with masters like Le Corbusier and his compatriot Lúcio Costa.

Niemeyer has been a tireless creator, until he was 104 he has continued ready for whatever may come, an active person, who stopped going to his study just a couple of days before he died and who leave us more than 600 works all over the world.

Brasilia’s impeccable urbanistic order (declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1987) and its great architectonic value gave him fame all the world around highlighting works like, United Nations’ HQ in New York, Le Havre Cultural Center built in 1982 in Le Havre, France; The Serpentine Gallery located at Hyde park in London or Constantine University located in Constantine, in Argelia and inspired in Brasilia’s University.

As we said before, Niemeyer was a tireless worker until his very last days, he once said: “what is worth is the whole life, every minute. And I think I did a good job through it. When I look back, I see that I  made concessions and I followed the right path. That is what gives true tranquility”.
