Why construction of wineries and wood must be in perfect harmony beyond titanium and curtain wall

Today we want to launch a rising discussion in the architecture´s world, above all after Frank Gehry´s reaction during the press conference at the Prince of Asturias Awards 2014, when he was asked about “show-architecture” and delighted us with a graphic and bad-mannered answer.

Beyond the desirability of integrating most renowned architects and interior designers in the contract projects (whether if they are hoteliers, public commercial, bureaus, residential or, like in this post, business and winemaker) we´d like to think about the setting up of indoor spaces in which the materials and proportions end up conveying an aseptic, impersonal and far tone over the years, beyond trends.

In recent editions of FITUR, the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, we´ve seen a high interest of foreign touroperators in the wine tourism, but must we offer wine cellars that refuse to their roots and local architectural style to end up creating wine cellars with communal and wine tasting areas that look like German or Italian showrooms at the Milan Design Week?

The aim of this post is to advocate for eclecticism, for the mixture of high-end interior design and decoration made in precious woods with other materials like aluminium, glass, stainless steel … keeping the warm atmosphere that provides us the wood finishes ( in any shade and lacquered) with the purpose that each customer or tourist feels comfortable. And talking about tourism, the international customer should not loose the perspective of getting to know where he is, and finishes believing that he is in any Manhattan, Hong Kong or San Francisco club. And believe me, they´re running away from this.
